I agree with Packer that we need to think BIG about God. I agree that God`s majesty is not something that we hear Christians mention much in their everyday conversations. It seems that we are more intent on focusing on our own issues and problems and forget that He is both personal and majestic. I find that this is especially true for me as I gain more knowledge of Him. It is easy to claim that God is majestic and powerful but when it comes to handling the complexities of life’s issues, I instinctively attempt to “fix” the problems with my own earthly wisdom. However, Packer reminds us that God is not only powerful but also personal in that He is near to those which belong to Him. As John Bunyan said: “You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed. Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge to Satan.” In Christ, we have the privilege, honour, and duty to approach the Father knowing that He is majestic and mighty to save.
