This chapter was a timely reminder for me about the wisdom of God. The Bible says that His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). It’s often so easy to fall into either thinking that God doesn’t care about our circumstances or that He is powerless to intervene in our lives. I like how Packer ties God’s wisdom to His other attributes (e.g. omniscience, omnipotence) as he points out that all God’s attributes work together and cannot be understood separately. I also appreciate Packer’s reminder that if we cannot comprehend why things happen, we should observe that all things happen to illustrate God’s awesome glory. We as the redeemed children of God are to bring glory to Him in our short lives here on earth. We’ll never be able to fully understand the reasons behind God’s ways but I’m glad that His wisdom is so much greater than mine.
